maple leafs: windsor, canada
i'm curious...is there any other athletic team whose name is incorrectly plural? i mean, shouldn't it be maple leaves?

team names are wildly anarchic, cf many UK Soccer team nicknames.
Is this derived from [The] Maple Leaf Hockey Team, getting badly pluralised by the great unwashed who follow them? Grammatically incorrect but logical in some quarters
